Gabby Marsola drained six 3-pointers Friday night as the NEPA Elite girls program wrapped up the first day at the Select Events Basketball Live! at the Nook with the Butler 16U team defeating My Sky Elite-Ford, 39-34, in a 2024 Division Pool H game.
The three-day pool play event at Spooky Nook Sports in Manheim, Lancaster County continues through Sunday with every team playing five games total – two more Saturday and one on a Sunday.
The NEPA Elite Clark 13U team remained undefeated with two wins. The Butler 16U and Rini 15U teams each went 1-1. The NEPA Elite Clark 17U and Macciocco 16U teams both went 0-2, but they each played in an overtime game and they were involved in four highly competitive games, falling by a total of 12 points.
Marsola, from Wyoming Valley West, scored 19 points in the nightcap.
Brenna Hunt added 10 points in the win.
Hunt also had 10 points, sharing the team lead with Molly Jenkins when the Butler 16U team lost to OV Lady Dragons 2024 Red, 72-28, in its afternoon opener.
Both Hunt and Jenkins are from Lake-Lehman.
The Rini 15U team won first before dropping its second game.
NEPA Elite defeated Team Tre-Black, 47-42, before losing to New England Storm Platinum, 65-46, in a 2025 Division Pool A game.
Jenna Hillebrand from Scranton Prep scored 17 points in each game for NEPA Elite.
Ella Smith was 7-for-10 from the line while adding 11 points and 8 rebounds in the win.
Maggie Coleman, who joined Hillebrand in hitting two 3-pointers each, added eight points and five rebounds in the win.
Isabella Dennebaum, who scored seven points, and Maggie O’Shea each grabbed four rebounds.
Coleman had 11 points and Dennebaum 8 in the second game.
Smith had a team-high four rebounds.
Coleman is from Abington Heights, Smith is from Wallenpaupack, O’Shea from Scranton and Dennebaum from Scranton Prep.
The NEPA Elite Clark 13U team was tested in both games, but came away with wins.
NEPA Elite defeated Mid Atlantic Magic, 31-28, and New York Havoc 2027 Silver-Pearson, 53-47, in 2027 Division Pool B games.
The Loudoun Flight 17U Showcase team defeated NEPA Elite Clark 17U, 49-45, in overtime in a 2023 Division Pool B/F crossover game, then the New Jersey Shoreshots 17U HGSL-Sabino team downed NEPA Elite Clark 17U, 52-48, in a Pool B game.
The second game represented progress for the Clark team, which fell to the Shoreshots by 17 at home at Riverfront Sports in Scranton during the opening weekend of the season.
The NEPA Elite Macciocco 16U team lost a pair of two-point decisions in the 2024 Division Pool E, falling to the Lone Wolf, 44-42, on a basket with six seconds left, then losing to Lady Rivals 10th Gold, 63-61, in overtime.
