NEPA Elite Coyle 17U alum Justice Shoats announced Saturday that he is accepting a full athletic scholarship to Lock Haven University where he plans to be part of both the basketball and track and field teams.
The Holy Redeemer senior is a defending state champion in the long jump and the favorite to win the Class 2A high jump at this week’s District 2 Track and Field Championships where he is also a contender in the 100-meter dash.
Shoats put that jumping and running ability to good use on the basketball court.
With NEPA Elite, Shoats was a third-team Hoop Group Showcase League all-star in his final AAU season last year. He then earned second-team Class 3A all-state honors from Pennsylvania Sports Writers for his efforts in leading Holy Redeemer to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association state semifinals.
Lock Haven, a National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II school, went 8-14 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and 11-16 overall during the 2021-22 season.
