The NEPA Elite 14U Clark girls team got off to a 2-0 start in Pool A of the 14U Diamond Division of the Nike Tournament of Champions Friday at McCormick Place North in Chicago.

NEPA Elite defeated Nevada Premier 14U Nike, 80-70, then pounded Houston Lady Roadrunners 14U, 81-24, on Opening Day.

The event runs through Monday.

Ella Clementoni made all eight of her shots from the floor while scoring 20 points in the opener.

Cora Castellani hit three 3-pointers while scoring 11 points and Clementoni added 10 as NEPA Elite took a 39-29 halftime lead and maintained it for the victory.

Clementoni also had four assists and three steals.

Zya Small went 7-for-9 from the line while finishing with 15 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots.

Jaelyn Alers, who made both her 3-point attempts, and Chrissy Jacklinski, who pulled down six rebounds, each scored six points.

NEPA Elite shot 64.7 percent (22-for-34) from the floor when it opened a 58-11 halftime lead in the second game.

Castellani led four scorers in double figures with 21 points and also made five steals. She was 9-for-12 from the floor, hitting all seven of her attempts from inside the arc.

Small went 6-for-7 while adding 15 points, 6 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals.

Kam Gallis made three 3-pointers while adding 13 points.

Kayli McHugh was 4-for-7 on 3-pointers to finish with 12 points.

Jacklinski had eight points, five assists and five steals. Alers also had eight points. Clementoni had five assists and four steals.

Clementoni and McHugh are from North Pocono. Small and Jacklinski are from Scranton. Alers is from Scranton Prep, Castellani is from Valley View and Gallis is from Notre Dame of Bethlehem.

There are 24 teams in the Diamond Division, 6 of them in Pool A.

NEPA Elite and 25 Eight Mentality 14U, which meet in the second of two Saturday games, are 2-0 to share the pool lead.
